India crush West Indies by 8 wickets in 1st ODI

In their 1st ODI, India won the toss and decided to bowl first. The bowlers had a tough time on a flat deck. With the collective effort of the bowlers, the Indian team was able to take 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. But they also gave away quite many runs in doing so.

Shami went for as many as 81 runs in his ten overs, although he took 2 wickets as well. Yuzvendra Chahal bowled economically and was the highest wicket taker for both teams. He took 3 wickets in his ten overs while giving away only 41 runs.

Although West Indies made a challenging total of 322 runs in their 50 overs, it wasn't good enough. India had an early hickup when they lost their opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan for only 4 runs. However, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli played superb innings to take India home.

The Indian captain, Virat made 140 and Rohit made 152 and remained unbeaten till the end. India won the first ODI easily with 47 balls to spare. The 2nd ODI will be a day/night affair to be played on 24th October at Vishakhapatnam.
