1 lakh people benefitted from Centre's PMJAY scheme in a month
Nearly a month after the roll out of the Centre's Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) health insurance scheme, more than one lakh people have benefitted from the ambitious programme, Union Health Minister JP Nadda announced on Sunday.
The PMJAY (previously Ayushman Bharat Scheme) envisaged as the world's largest health insurance programme, was launched pan-India by the prime minister Narendra Modi on 23rd September.
Modi ji launched Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana on 23rd September and in a span of one month, more than one lakhpeople have benefitted from it. We are committed to ensure the benefits of the scheme reach the last man," Nada mentioned in a tweet.
The scheme is expected to benefit up to 55 crore people. It will give them an annual health cover of Rs 5 lakh. Through this health insurance scheme they can avail of secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation through a network of Empanelled Health Care Providers (EHCP).
