A family that registers in the scheme can have as many members. There is no cap on family size and age in the PMJAY scheme.
On 5th October, two weeks after the launch of the PMJAY scheme, the CEO of The National Health Agency, Indu Bhushan said around 38,000 people have availedof the scheme.
The health ministry has said the scheme will help in reducing expenditure for families that spend an enormous amount on hospitalizations. The Ministry said that it will also help mitigate the financial risk arising out of rising health episodes.
More than 9,000 hospitals have been empanelled for the scheme, and 32 states and Union territories have signed MoUs with the Centre and will implement the programme.
Among the states which have opted for the scheme are Telangana, Odisha, Delhi and Kerala.
